Alternative Tours was launched to showcase the ultimate experience of why Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and the Balti Triangle are so unique. Years of experience of working closely with businesses means that our ‘behind the scenes’ tours give you a chance to discover the secrets that pass by the casual visitor and cannot be repeated anywhere else.

We are experts in both the Jewellery Quarter and the Balti Triangle which undoubtedly forms Birmingham’s very own ‘Jewel in the Crown’!

Tours can be arranged for parties of different sizes and these can be both for leisure and education purposes. These can be tailored to suit the requirements of the party both from a time and content perspective.

Alternative Tours is a partnership between Anna Gibson and Andy Munro (see below).

Anna GibsonAnna Gibson  

Anna has worked for many years in the destination marketing of Birmingham and in particular has focused on Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

She has been instrumental in marketing the area, organising and hosting Press and VIP visits as well as marketing individual businesses.

This has given her a unique understanding of the area and a creative approach. Anna is also a professional photographer.

Andy MunroAndy Munro

Andy has worked in the Jewellery Quarter for over 12 years,most of them as Operations Director,leading the regeneration of the Quarter. In doing so, he has worked with many of the businesses and helped develop the tourism offer. Andy has also addressed a number of International Conferences on the Quarter.

Born and bred in Birmingham’s Balti Triangle,he has written a number of Tourism Guides on the area and is well known to many of the restauranteurs. He is currently working with them on achieving EU protection for the ‘Birmingham Balti’. As a Brummie, he is passionate about the Jewellery Quarter and Balti Triangle.
